ANZAC DAY
In Room 11, we have been busy learning about ANZAC Day, which commemorates a very significant event in NZ history. We read lots of stories from the library such as Simpson and his Donkey and Jim's Letters. We pretended that we were soldiers and wrote letters from the trenches home to our loved ones. Some of us pretended that we were the little siblings left behind to help out on the farms and in the factories and wrote letters to our big brothers and Dads in Gallipoli. We learnt about Mascots in the war and how the pigeon's used to deliver messages to the soldiers. We looked at different ways that we remember the soldiers that fought for our country and our freedom such as wearing poppies and baking ANZAC biscuits.
